Oct. 14, 2025, Meeting Highlights:
The 2025 Barron County SxS Raffle was held on Oct. 11th. Our club sold 195 1/5 ticket books @ $20 ea., totaling $19,520. All expenses were shared equally by 6 clubs, leaving our club with a total profit of $15,654. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the winner at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17th at NexGen Power Sports in Clear Lake. Club members are invited to attend.
A club workday is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18. Members are asked to meet at the clubhouse at 8 a.m. The primary project will be replacement of damaged bridge deck planks on the WRT.
We're sad to report that our County Trail Coordinator, Jeff Wolf has announced that he is leaving the B.C. Sheriff Dept. He has accepted a Chief of Police position in St Croix Falls and he'll be sorely missed as his departure will leave BIG SHOES TO FILL. The county is now working to establish a replacement position outside of the sheriff's dept., possibly within the Forestry Mgmt. Department. We're very grateful for all that Jeff has done and we wish him well in his new endeavor.
The club recently tested a small (75 HP) used tractor as a possible alternative to our current "Groomer" tractor for grading UTV trails and as a replacement for our seldom used skid steer. This would eliminate the significant cost of switching between tracks and tires on the "groomer" twice a year. This smaller tractor was listed at $39K minus $20K for our skid steer, however testing revealed that 75 HP was borderline inadequate, and after much discussion, it was decided to continue looking for a better option.
Signage has been ordered for the Cedar Lake Trails to indicate Winter ATVing. Business trail signs were also ordered for Northside Car Wash, who is a new map ad addition on our (soon to be published) 2026-7 county trail map.
UTV signage has not yet been posted on Hwy 48 by the Hwy Dept. between Eagle Ridge and Stump Lake Liquor, so UTV travel is NOT YET officially allowed on that stretch.
The DNR has approved $1500 for our club to mow and brush the Tuscobia Trail prior to opening for snowmobiling.
President Pete plans to meet with Jamey Crotteau at the upcoming AWSC meeting to discuss potential benefits, requirements and costs of changing our club's IRS classification to a 501c3.
The club's Fall/Winter calendar has been emailed to members and also updated on our on-line calendar (accessible via www.rlsnowdirt.com).
It was decided to discontinue Fall Dinner Rides for this season.
Brody Hamilton's name was drawn for our "Attendance Raffle" however he wasn't in attendance to accept his prize.
Our next club meeting will be a Pot-Luck Dinner Mtg. on Tuesday, Oct. 28th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. Attendees should bring a dish to pass and their own eating utensils.
